Besigye calls on international community to reject Uganda’s poll results



Uganda’s Opposition leader and a candidate in the just concluded elections, Dr. Kizza Besigye , has asked the international community not accept the results of the presidential elections .  

In a statement to the press he indicated that he was still under house arrest .
Today I am under house arrest. My home is sealed off and I am not allowed to leave. Nobody is allowed to access my home. I am also under some kind of electronic blockade. I am unable to access any form of internet service in my house,” the statement read in part

Besigye has asked the internal community to do the following

1) The results of the presidential elections must be rejected by the international community.

(2) An international commission should be established to audit the results of the elections.

He also alluded to the fact that democracy is on trial.  Today democracy is on trial in Uganda. The evidence is all around us,” read the statement

Yoweri Museveni was declared winner in the elections that the European Union observers have termed as one that was marred with voter intimidation and abuse of human rights . Museveni won by 60.75% of the cast votes while Besigye came in second with 35%
