Odinga blames Jubilee Government for intimidating Joho

Raila Odinga has condemned the jubilee government for blackmailing and Harassing Mombasa governor Hassan Joho. In statement dated 29, January  2016 the Cord leader said that the government had shut down two container freight stations belonging to Governor Hassan Joho’s family without giving reasons for the same. Odinga suspects that Joho is being targeted for his strong stand against bullying of opposition governors by the Jubilee government.

This is not about the governor and his businesses. It is about the return of strong arm politics, intimidation and blackmail to fight the Opposition, individuals and communities into surrender,” the statement read in part

Raila challenged the government to accept that Kenya is a multiparty and that it is not negotiable. This comes days after Joho and Mike Sonko publicly differed with infront of President Uhuru Kenyatta at function at the Coast.

Here is the full statement

About a week ago, the Governor of the County of Mombasa Hon Ali Hassan Joho stood up against the bullying tactics being employed by the National Executive particularly to bully governors from the Opposition.

This well intended challenge to the presidency which has the backing of the Constitution, was certainly not received well by the National Executive. Revenge was sure to follow and it has.

Yesterday, the government shut down two container freight stations belonging to Governor Hassan Joho’s family.

KPA Managing Director Mr Gichiri Ndua gave no reasons for closing the facility. It was done through executive fiat.

This development would not be so worrying if it were not for its echoes of a return of an old order Kenyans are only too familiar with.

This is not about the governor and his businesses. It is about the return of strong arm politics, intimidation and blackmail to fight the Opposition, individuals and communities into surrender.

It is a return of the old order of starving individuals and communities into submission and surrender.

It has sad echoes of the1970s and 1980s when businesses were deregistered, slapped with hefty taxes and shut down because the owners were perceived to be anti government or unwilling to toe government line.

The shutting down of banks associated with the likes of Andrew Kimani Ngumba in the 1980s and the forced collapse of businesses of Mr Kenneth Matiba in 1990s come to mind.

In the end, it is the economy of the nation that is going to be crippled. It is the youth of our country who are going to suffer joblessness.

This emerging pattern must be nipped in the bud. Kenyans must stand firm and refuse to be blackmailed and intimidated.

I appeal to the Jubilee government to accept that Kenya is a multiparty state by law. That is not negotiable.

Let Jubilee accept that in a multiparty environment, we can disagree without being disagreeable.

Jubilee must put the interests of Kenya above self preservation.

A nation is in peril when all that the leaders do is plot and scheme how to subdue real or imaginary opponents.

Kenyans deserve an explanation on the closure of the two businesses associated with Governor Joho. It is our understanding that the government should create jobs, not kill them.

We want an assurance in word and deed that the government shares this position.

In 2014: Raila calls for KDF exit from Somalia

Retrieved from Daily Nation Archives  FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2014

By MAZERA NDURYA
Cord leader Raila Odinga has called for the immediate withdrawal of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) from Somalia saying they have accomplished what they went to do.
Mr Odinga said the reason Government decided to send the troops to Somalia was to destroy the Al Shabaab cell that was being used to plan attacks in Kenya.
“We agreed with retired President Mwai Kibaki to send our forces there because the terror group had become the biggest threat to our internal security.
“We commend our forces for the good work in destroying the terror group. But as far as we are concerned they have no business being there anymore,” said the former Prime Minister while addressing a public rally in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Thursday.
He said instead of staying in Somalia, the troops should come back and beef up security in the country, adding that it is in Kenya where there are serious security problems.
The former Prime Minister who addressed members of the Somali community said the continued stay of Kenyan soldiers in Somalia is hurting Kenyans more because of the constant attacks and harassment through security operations targeting people perceived to be Al Shabaab sympathisers.
“It is high time the government evaluated whether there is any reason to continue keeping our soldiers in Somalia. Does their continued stay in Somali bring peace to our country?” he asked.
MIXED REACTIONS
The issue of whether the KDF soldiers should withdraw or stay in Somalia has drawn mixed reactions from leaders across the political divide.
Some leaders from the Cord coalition have come out in support of the continued stay of the Kenyan forces fighting alongside other Amisom soldiers, saying it was the only way to guarantee peace in Kenya.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has insisted that he has no intention of withdrawing the troops from the war torn country until they accomplish their mission.
Last month Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama broke ranks with Cord leaders’ call on the Government to withdraw the military from Somalia.
Speaking during the commissioning of a new complex at Mbilini Primary School in Kangundo constituency, Mr Muthama said such a move would amount to cowardice.
In a rare sign of support to Jubilee government, the outspoken Senator said he was fully behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s resolve to pursue the perpetrators of terror inside Somalia.
Kenya launched attacks on the Somali insurgents in what came to be known as “Operation Linda Nchi”, a coordinated military operation involving Somali, Kenyan and Ethiopian military forces that began on 16 October 2011.

Willy Paul hits at Bahati over witch-hunt claims

Willy Paul today took to his Facebook page to hit at his fellow artist over his persistent lies about him (Willy Paul). In the post the "Sijafika" hit marker claimed that their difference had roots in a a collage between the two that he had called off

"I did a song with him back in 2014 and we disagreed about something and I called the collabo off!! And we both told the producer to delete the project. Now we are in 2016 and my brother is still after me. Accusing me falsely.. Saying that I leaked the song to WhatsApp groups, why is it always about you and me? Why am I the only person you attack with your lies? Did I ever wrong you somewhere?? Well if I did then sorry of which I don't think I have," the post read in part

Willy Paul went ahead to allude to a statement he claims Erick Omondi told Bahati.
"Just like Eric omondi said to you, YOU CAN'T STAY ON TOP BY BRINGING YOUR BROTHERS DOWN," the post  concluded

Last year Bahati come under fire for claiming Dady Owen had not given Denno his share of the royalties generated from the song "Mbona?" sang  Dady Owen ft Denno

Here is the whole post

Its so unfortunate how my brother is fighting me even after I released a peace song saying how much I love him. I've tried so much to make peace with him but from what I see, he's not ready for peace. We've met severally took photos which I always upload to show our fans that we are okay and we don't have any beef.. He's never posted any because he wants the innocent fans to keep fighting each other coz it works for him that way. I've grown up with him and I know him in and out. All the lies he's told the media are just a secret kept by me coz I want only the best for him.
Last year when groove awards was approaching, he made up a story and claimed that I had stolen a song from him.. I received insults, was called all sorts of names.. By the innocent fans who didn't know that it was only one of his stunts to win groove awards... I kept quiet even after he called me a thief in front of the whole world. Everything will come to the open one day..
Last month he made up a story about DADDY OWEN a man of God that we all respect, he said that DADDY OWEN only used denno for his own selfish gains.. On the song MBONA and then dumped him..
He did that to push his collabo with denno.. THE MAIN STORY
I did a song with him back in 2014 and we disagreed about something and I called the collabo off!! Well if I did then sorry of which I don't think I have.
So today after you leaked the song and said that it was me, what were your expectations? Are you not tired of seeing people insulting me because of your lies? Don't you think its wise to set a good example to the people who look up to us?? Why do you want our fans to keep fighting?
Be a true minister, am not saying that am perfect, but at least I control myself.
One more thing, if its true you believe and have evidence that I leaked the song, why didn't you call me?? Why my brother, why?? Why did you run to the media?? That's what you always do to keep yourself relevant and that's not a good thing man.
Just like Roughtone said, we've mastered your stunts...
The fact that I did not respond when you accused me of stealing does not mean that you take advantage of me.
Stop using my name for your own gains bro, come seat with me, talk to me, tell me your problem.... I might be able to help and if I can't am sure we can find someone to help... You've really messed my day up bro. I did not expect such from you.
That's not how gospel artists live. I might need you today and you might need me tomorrow...
Stop fooling this innocent fans, people are already getting to know your true colors......
Just like Eric omondi said to you, YOU CAN'T STAY ON TOP BY BRINGING YOUR BROTHERS DOWN
What you do to a brother today will be done to you tomorrow.

Larry Madowo slams NMG over suspension of Daily Nation Editor Denis Galava

NTV's The Trend Presenter Larry Madowo has expressed his displeasure at the suspension of Daily Nation Special Projects Managing Editor Denis Galava over his critical editorial  on the performance of President Uhuru Kenyatta

Larry via his Facebook page said he was dismayed and disappointed by the decision to suspend  Denis Galava for Saturday's editorial.

I was dismayed and disappointed by the decision to suspend Daily Nation Special Projects Managing Editor Denis Galava for Saturday's editorial critical of President Kenyatta and his administration. As a journalist at the Nation Media Group, I worried that it set a bad precedent and I said as much to Editor-In-Chief Tom Mshindi. To his credit, he has fleshed out the motivations for that decision in this piece. "Our editorial decisions are taken in the open and everyone is free and encouraged to challenge and contribute to them. That is why you will see the loudest critics of our own decisions are Nation journalists."

No editor has been suspended for criticising President Uhuru Kenyatta - Editor.
