I was dismayed and disappointed by the decision to suspend Daily Nation Special Projects Managing Editor Denis Galava for Saturday's editorial critical of President Kenyatta and his administration. As a journalist at the Nation Media Group, I worried that it set a bad precedent and I said as much to Editor-In-Chief Tom Mshindi. To his credit, he has fleshed out the motivations for that decision in this piece. "Our editorial decisions are taken in the open and everyone is free and encouraged to challenge and contribute to them. That is why you will see the loudest critics of our own decisions are Nation journalists."
